UCD, QUINN SCHOOL OF BUSINESS
BRIEF: The Quinn School of Business has twenty two teaching locations in their building on the Belfield campus. Techcom were awarded the contract to upgrade the projection, switching and control systems within each location. SOLUTION: All locations have dual screen projection facilities with PC, laptop, DVD and document camera inputs. All inputs are routed to a Kramer matrix switcher and control is taken care of by a 10" AMX touch screen. We replaced the projectors with Panasonic PTF200NTE, installed new switchers and upgraded the control systems. All rooms are now linked via resource management software, which enables remote monitoring and control of the equipment in each location. -
MATER HOSPITAL, FREEMAN AUDITORIUM
BRIEF: To design and install a presentation system for a two hundred seater theatre in a teaching facility with links to operating theatres for live conferencing. SOLUTION: We designed a dual projection system based on tow 6k lumen Panasonic projectors incorporating a Polycom HD video conferencing unit and Intellivox Line Array sound system. An AMX touch screen control system provided the user interface and also linked with the theatres lighting and environment controls for ease of operation. A Kramer matrix switcher provided signal routing along with Extron interface units. The Theatre was connected via an underground fibre link to two operating theatres. During a conference the delegates are located in the theatre and the live feed is broadcast via the fibre from an operating theatre while the consultant gives a commentary on the procedure being carried out. -
DCU BUSINESS SCHOOL
BRIEF: Techcom were awarded the contract to design and install fourteen multi media presentation systems in the Business School. SOLUTION: The main criteria for the School when asked to design this project were uniformity of operation. Every interface / control unit had to be the same regardless of room size or functionality along with our custom built presentation stations. Our systems were designed around NEC projectors and Extron push button push button controllers with remote monitoring capabilities. The IS department now receive alerts when projector lamps need replacement, filters cleaned or if there is a technical problem with any system. A service level agreement is in place with regular service calls to ensure problems are caught before they become operational issues. -
DUBLIN CITY COUNCIL
BRIEF: To design and install the technology suitable for a conference centre designed around the Hiberno Norse City Wall. SOLUTION: The project consisted of four individual spaces, which were capable of operating as a large single space. The system was designed around a central apparatus room (CAR), which housed all non-user interface equipment. Each location has projector, audio system, touch screen control, various multimedia inputs and lighting control. The rooms operate via a master / slave arrangement when one large space is in operation. -
PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANY
BRIEF: Techcom were approached by a large pharmaceutical manufacturer and asked to replace a large rear projection video wall. The wall was passed its life expectancy and maintenance costs were very expensive. The large screen is a very important asset to the internal communication strategy so reliability with 24/7 operation was extremely important. SOLUTION: After researching the many advances in large screen technology we chose the Toshiba 6mm SMD LED screen. The screen is a modular design with numerous tiles side by side on a custom frame. Being modular it could easily fit into the existing support structure. A Polycom video conferencing unit along with various source equipment and a Tannoy Qflex audio system complete the system and control is via a large AMX touch screen. This technology now gives our client a much cleaner and crisper picture with improved viewing angles, simple operation and most importantly, reduced running costs. -
YELLOW MOON POST PRODUCTION
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Tyrell CCT is the leading creative technology solutions provider for the broadcast, post production, education and corporate sectors. Techcom were contracted to provide the integration resources to install an Avis Unity Lanshare and several edit facilities in a new location for Yellowmoon Post Production. All of the studios are internally connected to a central machine room, which routes signals to and from each individual suite. Content storage is provided by an eight terabyte Lanshare located in the CAR
